Songbird: Ellyn Oliver Sings Eva Cassidy

June 19 at 7.30pm

Theatre Royal

Eva Cassidy; a beautiful soul whose stunning vocal and guitar talents were relatively unknown to the world in her short lifetime. Sadly passing away due to cancer in 1996, she fast became known to British audiences in 1998 thanks to an enchanted Terry Wogan sharing her songs on BBC Radio 2, touching the hearts of many. Eva's legacy lives on through the treasure she left us - 'Songbird', 'Fields of Gold', 'Over the Rainbow' and 'Wayfaring Stranger' to name a few.

Citing Eva Cassidy as one of her biggest influences, Scottish singer-songwriter, Ellyn Oliver and her band of some of Scotland's most gifted musicians have enjoyed working and touring throughout Scotland and beyond for a number of years. Ellyn's vocal versatility crosses over a number of genres including blues, pop, folk, gospel, soul and jazz. In August 2019 Ellyn released her solo debut EP, 'Arms Wide Open' to much critical acclaim.

Join Ellyn and her band at the charming Theatre Royal Dumfries as they share Eva's story and pay homage to one of the greatest songbirds.
