Open to the public weekdays between 9.00am and 5.00pm from Friday 13 to Monday 30 September

The Crichton is 180 years old and for the last 20 years it has been home to the University of Glasgow in Dumfries. We are marking this auspicious anniversary with a packed calendar of events and we want you to join us as we celebrate.

The University and the Crichton both have reputations for pioneering work so the School of Interdisciplinary Studies is the perfect place to showcase this exhibition highlighting the Crichton's pioneering past as we look forward to the future.

From digital prints of paintings created by former patients dating back to the 19th Century to photos of patients, staff and the estate the exhibition documents the Crichton's revolutionary and fascinating history.

The launch takes place at 5.30pm on Thursday 12 September in the Rutherford McCowan building and features author of Art in Madness, Maureen Park, and former Curator of the Crichton Museum, Morag Williams, who will give their insight into the significance of the collection on display. Light refreshments will be provided.
